I like the idea of having a "watchdog" that constantly sniffs out potential dangers before they even get the chance to infect my computer. Comodo, which is my currently preferred software for personal internet security, has a similar feature. It seems to be similar to WinPatrol PLUS in that it gives an alert when there are changes attempted on the machine (e.g. when installing software, when programs try to alter system files). I haven't tried WinPatrol so I don't really know the similarities and differences. I like comodo because it runs quietly on my 4 year old laptop (Win XP), it has a good antivirus and firewall, it updates regularly without interrupting me, and it's free.
