On another note, I was wondering if MS was waiting for the open source community to do the ‘dirty’ work on a piece of code or software project, then come in when it was ‘refined’ and ‘use’ the code for their own OS. If a particular open source project never reached a ‘refined’ state (perhaps for lack of interest from the end user) then pass it on for something more lucrative.

In other words let the “free” (and perhaps “unpaid”) programmers do the work of “paid” programmers then use the results in a “highly paid” for OS.

Microsoft has to go back to the drawing board…..even if it means striking a deal with Apple to let Microsoft sell a Microsoft-branded version of Mac OS X. UNIX and Linux are here to stay. I would seriously consider using a version of Windows based on PC-BSD.

I think Microsoft has given up on Vista behind the scenes. I’m sending this via email because well, I know it sounds like tinfoil hat time, but I think there’s some validity to it….

They should salvage the effective and efficient components of Vista (read: remove whatever they’ve added that drive’s the base-requirements so high) and get to work on a current basic OS. They bit off more than they could handle, and I can see it happening again as long as they are trying to keep pace with Mac or even Linux (Compiz Fusion provides similar effects as Aero Glass, however it runs fine on my DX9 128mb video card and AthlonXP 2500+ w/ 1GB of RAM.

Plainly put Vista is a bloated rushed product that clearly has a lot of crap under the hood. Microsoft needs to get back to their core competency of serving businesses and home users with a basic Operating System and leave the snaz to the professionals (and hobbyists).

Of course soon we will see MICROSOFT LINDOWS.
