Enjoyed that Chris – I’ve not seen so many video tips all in one place before.

One thing I’d recommend is that in Windows Movie Maker – which is where most people create their movies (I’m guessing), when you save your movie use “High quality” setting and if shooting 640×480 video with 30 frames per second – you should get the crucial “HQ” button so people can see your vids in high quality on YT.

I edit in camera too – and I’ve reshot dozens of times for one simple 2 sentence bit… and it’s mind-numbing – but, worth it – was for a client’s video I did.

A lot of great tips although id say 50% of them are obvious.
One thing thats really important is the video thumbnail

nice post Chris. I learned a bunch. No mention of thumbnails, though, or how/if you should use the new “sponsored videos” feature (paid search) to boost viewership or jumpstart virality. I’d be interested in your opinion on that too.

Great tips, Chris, good job. I would suggest that you add an overview of what items you use (maybe not brands, but just a list of things you use, say, a mic, two spots, whatever) and a quick run through of what you do, to get a video up and running. But these were just awesome tips for someone who knows what to do, but hasn’t really thought through how to do it in the best way. My best wishes for 8000 more (for starters). D.
