In our house, the tubes outnumber the flat panel 6:1. We don't actually see much benefit to switch to flat panels because normal TV broadcast looks quite ugly with plasmas and LCDs. HDTV broadcast is still not available here. The only way you can get anything above 480p is via HD DVD or Blu-ray. Hopefully we'll get to have HD soon because HD picture is so clear that it even stomps on DVD. We still have one of those tape rewinders which make an awful lot of noise when they are in use.

Advertising dollars will be more wisely spent on HDTV because they have effectively priced many consumers out of the market. I for one look forward to the day when I will only use a DVD player or yes even an old VHS which we still have to watch only selected movies and programs in our home. Great for raising kids without a steady diet of commercialized TV jerking on their parents pockets for every jim crack and doo dah that they see advertised on TV.
