Is There Too Much Content Online?

Steven Earl asks:

Do you think there is an overabundance of content on the internet and is that necessarily a bad thing for content consumers?

No.

The problem isn’t a flood of great content – it’s a lack of time to take all of that great content in. The issue is in time management and filtering options, not the overabundance itself.

I’d rather have more than enough options than a lack of options altogether.

It’s a bigger issue for those entities whose business models are contingent on existing models of content production, dissemination, and monetization. They must adapt or face the consequences of irrelevance.
