Happy Cinco de Mayo

Sure, it’s already Siete de Mayo by the time you’re reading this, but Pirillo Vlog 378 wasn’t built in a day, you know!

Star Wars prequel quotes make me want to drink beer. I’m hoping the next trilogy — the one that Disney and JJ Abrams are working on — will be spared from cheese like “His cells have the highest concentration of midi-chlorians I have seen in a life-form,” “Love won’t save you, Padme. Only my new powers can do that,” “I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend,” and “begun, the Clone War has.”

Star Wars smart phone dockWho in the heck names a war before — or even as — it begins? Do you think they called World War I “World War I” while it was happening?

Forwarded to an automatic voice message, your call has been.

I’m not expecting Shakespeare, mind you. Just a series of movies that will make my heart race and my spine tingle (in a good way) as the original movies did when I first saw them, larger than life, on the big screen, as a child. I want to feel the low rumble of Star Destroyers shaking my sternum and the hum of light sabers making the hair stand up on the back of my neck (again, in a good way).

Whatever happens in the next three movies, I know that I’m probably going to lose any semblance of composure as soon as the blue letters forming the famous introduction “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” hit the screen and the music blasts those among my generation with a gale force of overwhelming — and wonderful — childhood memories.

Transported to another galaxy, will we be.
