Christmas Light Show

Good nog. Bad nog. I’m the guy with the fridge.

It’s tempting to get a dairy’s worth of egg nog and freezing it to sustain us through the rest of the year, but I’m not sure how well it would keep. I’m guessing it would start tasting like freezer-burned ice cream around April or May, though it might not be outright dangerous to drink. Is the gamble worth it?

By summertime, for sure, the nog’s flavor would degenerate into category dismal. But is grody nog better than no nog at all? Would stockpiling it in such a fashion make me a nog hog? I don’t know. I mean, I’d be happy to share it with you. But is that a challenge you’d accept?

Okay, okay. I probably won’t go through with Project Frozen Nog — not this year, anyway. But it does get me to thinking. You know what dairy product does keep over long periods of time? Cheese! Who doesn’t love cheese?

And who wouldn’t love cheese made from egg nog?

Dairy aficionados, what d’you think? Do you think we could make delicious cheese from our beloved and most favorite seasonal beverage to sustain our cravings and get us through until the next holiday season? Enquiring minds (well, probably just one mind — mine) want(s) to know!
