Anybody else going to CES 2013 in Vegas this January? Diana and I will be there, so maybe you can track us down and say hello if you find the time! To borrow the words of Ed Sullivan, it’s a “really big shew,” but maybe we can plan a meetup or something as I find out further details.
If you don’t know what in the heck a CES 2013 is, it’s the Consumer Electronics Show — pretty much the world’s biggest gadget/geek event thing of the year, and it’s been going on annually since before I (and probably many of you) were born. It’s where a lot of tech companies reveal big projects and upcoming devices to the public for the first time, and attendees get to see them before the rest of the world.
I guess in the days before the Internet, this was probably a bigger deal, sure. Now that we’ve got up-to-the-second reporting live from the convention hall, outsiders don’t have to rely on the evening news or newspapers (remember those?) to find out what the people on the floor already know on any given day of the show. Plus, with the ability for live video broadcasters (like me, I’m hoping) to spill the beans in real time, it’s almost like you can be there from the privacy of your own home without all of the noise and crowds and other stuff that might otherwise distract you from enjoying the CES news as it happens.
Then again, if you’re going to be there in the flesh, please let us know! Feel free to leave a comment below, regardless.
In other news, scareclowns are scary, mmkay?
