The user has to enter an Administrator’s password in order to allow the software to install, unlike a lot of PC malware that just launches itself/attaches itself without the user’s consent on a PC.

If Mac users want to run an AV product, I say go for it. I won’t, because I know better than to let a “Mac Defender” or the like piece of software run on my machine. And I tell every Mac user I know the same; run one if you want, but know you don’t have to if you’re smart about how you use your computer.

Get with the program mac users, u dont want to be the typhoid marry to all your friends. And the fact is, you will never know your mac is infected unless you install AV and scan it, and you can find many AV programs for free, so there’s no excuse.

Besides that, I guess you are right but trust me that day isn’t far. If there is a way to create a malware there is a way to create a virus. So yeah!

Use whatever comes with your Mac (firewall, FileVault) for security and data protection. Get your apps from the Mac App store or directly from publishers’ websites.
