Comments on: iPad 2 Initial Impressions Geek Culture & Tech Expert: How Can I Help You Today? Wed, 25 Nov 2015 01:28:28 +0000 hourly 1 By: Doccus Fri, 18 Mar 2011 21:30:00 +0000 Just discovered your site.. it appeals to an old geek like me.
You make good points ..although in your videos i have to sometimes
avoid the frustration of wanting to …um… string you up until you *GTTP* ;-).. well.. you do wander..
I’ve been around long enough to know how to spot if something’s good.. and there’s no question.. the iPad is directly in line with the future of computing..
Hey , my dad’s 90 and HE’s asking about these things..

I can’t for the life of me understand the approach of all the competitors..
see, how normal competition works is, if the other guys are doing something really well, then you try to find the holes in their product, the place where they ‘drop the ball’ as it were..
I guess mr. Jobs et al don’t really drop the ball.. I’m not sure where there would be holes to counter with, but it seems that the competition are trying to counter in the *strongest* areas rather than fill apparent weaknesses.. and at a higher price point (?)
.. i’m just not sure that that might work out for them…

Cheers from…Doccus

By: Bill Wed, 16 Mar 2011 12:14:00 +0000 My initial thoughts are I’m glad I passed on the iPad 2 and stuck with my original iPad. From what I’ve seen of others iPad 2’s the cameras are not great, and I didn’t really feel I needed one, much less two, anyway.

The screen has thinner glass but the iPad 2 isn’t significantly lighter than my iPad nor has the battery life been improved. The unit is faster in paper and will perform 3D graphics much better than my iPad, but I don’t play graphically intense games on mine and don’t see a need for faster graphics.

I do really like the form factor of the iPad 2. Thinner and easier to hold are two huge improvements to the original iPad. That said, the original isn’t bad with the right case – which I now own. The smart cover is definitely cool and would be nice to have for at home usage but isn’t practical as an all the time case as is my Cyber Acoustics case for my iPad.

So…I will be keeping my ears and ears open for the iPad 3 – only a short year away.

By: Todd Wed, 16 Mar 2011 09:38:00 +0000 One flaw I’ve noticed is some slight backlight bleed through on the screen at the bottom by the home button and at the top of the screen, after exchanging for multiple units I’ve seen this problem on all of them, apple employee tells me maybe it’s just the way they are made, poor craftsmanship but overall I’m happy with it
