What Was Your Favorite Childhood Toy?

I remember playing with an original Lite Brite when I was a kid. My brothers and I would spend hours on end creating different pieces of artwork. You could use the pre-made sheets to guide you, or create something right out of your own imagination! Nowadays, you can play with the new Lite Brite Cube! Create something different on all four sides, or go with a theme. The only limits are those within your own mind! I’m very grateful that ThinkGeek sent this to me to review.

The Cube comes with two storage drawers to hold all of your pegs. You can, of course, buy extra pegs – just in case you happen to lose some! One child can create four different scenes, or keep all the little ones busy at once! There’s a carry handle on the top of the cube for easy transport. Just a word of caution, though… I’d put a piece of tape on those drawers when you move the Cube around. They come out pretty easily, and it’s impossible to find all those little pegs on the floor if they spill!

Wicket and Pixie both want to try to create a picture for me for Christmas. The problem is that they lack opposable thumbs! I don’t think they’ll be able to pick up these little pegs and stick them in the slots. Oh, well. I’m sure they’ll come up with something else to get into.

What childhood toys do you remember playing with? What was your all-time favorite?!

  1. You brought back fond memories – I loved Lite Brite! Other favourites included the game Kerplunk, my Wonder Woman barbie, and the Easy Bake Oven. I liked the idea of the Spirograph but I was Spirograph challenged and could never actually make it work.

You are fun Chris! Thanks for the entertainment break in my marathon copywriting day.

  2. A shiny rock, we were so poor, couldn’t afford a lump of coal. ย
..mom would kill me if she saw that ๎„…
Seriously… a little camera, don’t remember what kind it was, but I loved it. At 9, I knew photography was the best “toy” in the world. Now, I still want new camera, lenses for Christmas, they just cost way more.

  3. It all depended on my age. When I was very little I had this thing for a Jack-in-the-box. My parents went nuts trying to find one for me for Christmas. When I got older it was my trucks. I would create roads all over the place under the porch. When I got into high school it was girls. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I haven’t changed since high school.

  4. Favorite toys when I was a little kid was a set of wood blocks. Later, a set of “Shootin Shell” cap guns (“you’ll shoot your eye out”).

  5. My favorite toys as a child? Six Million Dollar Man action figure
    Stretch Armstrong action figure
    Rocket Tubes action set
    Big Trakk programmable vehicle

  6. My all time favorite toy when I was a kid wasssssss. you guest it. Yea, the erector set. Boy did I have fun with that. It had so many gears that it would boggle the mind. At least my mind. I liked legos too but you could not beat the erector set.

  7. I always wanted a Lite Brite when I was a kid. I think I got to play with paper and crayons…maybe just the paper. We were wither too poor to buy a Lite Brite or my dad just thought they were a waste of money. I now have 2 for my little ones to use. Great creative toy.
