I have found that the Targus Ergonomic X-Stand for Laptops ( $ 20 Bucks at Microcenter ) is the best mobile laptop stand for my purposes.
It allows for the elevation that is needed for passive cooling and also slightly slants your computer for easier access to the keyboard. It folds up extremely small so it can be stowed in my case.

IN ADDITION, it is VERY important that you use compressed air to blow out and flush your airflow vents on your laptop every once in awhile. You would be surprised how much dust build up is inside and contributing to the overheating of the precious, expensive geek tools we carry with us everywhere we go.

These are the ice packs that you use to keep stuff cold. Seems to work well as I use my computer for live video broadcasting daily and the heat crashes the computer. I can get about 4 hours of use on each freeze pack and then pop it into the freezer and use a second one while waiting for the pack to re-freeze. Of course don’t block any vents on your computer when using these.
