Best Video Camera: Creative Vado HD vs Flip Mino HD vs Kodak Zi6?

Creative Labs Deals:

First, I got the Kodak Zi6. Then, I got the Flip Mino HD. A few hours ago, I received a recently-ordered Creative Vado HD and decided that instead of doing a full-on review of it, I’d compare it directly against the Mino HD and the Zi6 – in a short video shootout.

Zunepocalypse: Mass Zune 30 Failure, Cause Unknown

Zunepocalypse or Z2K9… no matter what you call it, it’s an epic fail of… well, epic proportions.

Mass panic started around 12 am Pacific when owners of the Zune 30 started reporting device failure. Now being called “Z2K9″ the cause of this massive failure is still unknown, and no real response from Microsoft yet on what is happening beyond the usual “we know there’s a problem” comment.

New Year’s Resolution – Don’t go a Day Without Cable

Being without my cable internet connection yesterday sure made me realize how much I appreciate it when it works. What the heck is a Geek supposed to do without a connection? How can I get my fix?! I was having withdrawl symptoms, since I wasn’t able to do much of anything. I spent a good part of today catching up, though, and seeing what everyone is talking about.

Do Electronic Measuring Tools Work?

It’s seven feet from my finger to my television. I was able to figure that out with a click of a button, using a digital measuring tool. It doesn’t only measure things, though… it’s far cooler than that! The Smart-Rule Ultrasonic Measuring Tool has six different functions!

Are You Looking to Buy a Pet Collar Cam?

I’m sitting here showing Wicket the slideshow of images that were gathered from the digital camera that hangs off of his collar. He didn’t seem to be too interested in watching, until he saw pictures of his new rawhide bone. We were checking out pictures taken with Pixie’s new Pet’s Eye View Digital Camera.

Christmas is over, and we’re looking ahead to the new year. Have you made any resolutions yet? And Geek Said: Let There Be Light!

To start off this video, I threw out some trivia questions to my chat room. I have the new Aurora Palette made by a company called Banpresto out of Japan. This is a very cool and fun gadget – and even includes glowing lights!!! This is a relaxing interior light that projects an aurora-like light on the ceiling or wall. Along with the colors, it also wavers as if it were a real aurora. It includes a timer function for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes and works for about twenty hours with four AA batteries.

How to Keep a Video Camera Steady

I can walk around and pan the camera from side to side, and still the video quality is amazing and clear. There’s virtually no shakiness to it when you use a good stabilizer like the Manfrotto Modosteady.

Want a CPU Magazine Discount Subscription?

Even after all these years, I still enjoy reading – and writing for – CPU Magazine. I’ve been working with them since the beginning, back in 2001. CPU Magazine is really geared towards GearHeads. There are reviews about software and hardware, and you can even find the occasional benchmark test. When is the last time you picked one up? If it’s been awhile, why not use a discount and order yourself a subscription for the new year?

What’s the Allure of these Netbooks?

I think I get it: these things are pretty darn tiny!

Understand, I’m completely happy with my Macbook 17″ notebook computer; even though it’s a bit heavy to lug around, it certainly gets the job done (with plenty of screen real estate to boot).

Merry Christmas from Santa Chris

Merry Christmas from Santa Chris

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas (and if you don’t happen to celebrate this holiday, then I hope you have a good day, anyway).

There are so many reasons to like December 25th, if only because it’s a chance to take the day off from work… even though I’m probably going to be working through the day, myself. I don’t have any kids to entertain, and Wicket and Pixie will be busy playing with their new toys.

Merry Christmas, and to All a Good Night

It’s been somewhat of a tradition to unwrap our Christmas gifts just as the clock strikes Midnight (the Christmas Eve / Christmas Day cusp). I don’t mind buying presents for family – but I really enjoy finding items for their stocking(s). The “fun” things usually take precedence over practicality, but Ponzi is tricky to buy for. She’s not really into toys, per se – but she requested the game Operation this afternoon. WTF?!
