How to Cut, Copy and Paste Text

I’m always on the prowl for interesting websites and services that can help us, whether you’re a power user or a novice. I recently found a website that I am excited to pass on to all of you.

Tinypaste is a place where you can paste text or code to save and share with another person, or multiple people. It’s so easy to use, that it needs no explanation on the website! Simply paste in your text, and click the “Submit” button. It will take all that text and give you a small URL which will link directly back to what you pasted in.

There is also a Firefox Extension available for Tinypaste. The extension allows you to right click on any text you have selected, click “Tinypaste selected text”, and presto! You have the Tinypaste URL. You never have to leave the page you are on.

As always, I’d love to hear about any other sites and services you may have to pass along to the rest of us.

I really don’t see a need for a site like this. I could just as easily send an e-mail to myself (or whomever I want to read it) with the text inside. Maybe if they added an option to quickly copy the submitted text onto the clipboard, rather than it being exclusive to the url, I might find a use for it as a bit of a time saver.

That’s a pretty interesting tool. It might even be useful for forums, blogs, or websites. Although, just like you said, it might not last forever.

THANK YOU CHRIS! My aunt has been driving me nuts with copy and pasting! It’s not that she doesn’t remember how to copy/paste (some assistance acquired from time to time =] ) but that she forgets that it is AN OPTION! Instead, she will right down a full URL (varying from 25 to 60 characters) onto paper or in worst cases, if she’s eating lunch or having a Coke, onto NAPKINS!!!

I’ll be sure to copy and paste this link and send it to her :)

Best of luck!

Does anyone know whether the tinypaste entries will end up on a search engine?

w00t, another life saver, this is really usefull for me, because on msn I often send long text, and msn limits the characters to not that many, this now gives me the power to do it muahahahahha
thanks chris :D

I use Windows and I’ve gotten really used to just hitting CTRL + C for copy and CTRL + X for cut, and obviously CTRL + V to paste that it’s just second nature to me. But this service looks great if you just want to copy a chunk of a web page and don’t intend to show the entire page to someone. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks!

Just another way to make Windows users lazy, and studipfied.
What about Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
Good thing the penguins know how to do it the correct way!

It’s an interesting idea. I always use Notepad or something similar if I’m copy/pasting a lot of things. It would be nice to have that all in the browser too. I’ll check it out.

I’m glad that people likes tinypaste.com! I’m actually the one who designed it. Yey!

Big ups for this blog!

I store items that I may want to paste later with Yankee Clipper (free) and WinM8 (M8 Multi Clipboard V9 is priced at $20.00 US, 10 Pounds UK or 15 Euros; 2006 prices). I’ll try Tinypaste when I’m not at my own computer.

Thanks, Chris!

All the best,

Bill

I also use InfoSelect (Micro-Logic).

This is soo usefull! I see myself sending emails with just links. It’ll be so much easier to send emails, with tons of text if you can just send them a link. It’s faster and easier.
