Twitter, of course, is a type of Social Networking site where you can let people know what you’re up to at any given time. You can quickly and easily tell people what you’re thinking, feeling and doing! Everyone uses Twitter in a different way, for different things. How do you Twitter?
Being away from home visiting my brother in Iowa right now, I decided to Twitter and let my local friends know that I’m in town. After seeing my Twitter message, several local friends contacted me, and we arranged a get-together. I came up with a top five uses of Twitter to share with you.
- Putting together a “Twee-up” or get-together. This will allow you to meet people that you have a lot in common with. This will let you broaden your horizons, and you’ll meet people you never would have otherwise.
- Crowd-sourcing questions and answers. I’ve thought about developing a service around this at some point. This is also known as the “lazy web”. You can use Twitter to quickly get answers when you don’t have time to do a lot of research.
- Airing grievances. When I’m on Twitter and I feel frustrated with a product or service, I’ll throw it out there. You never know who is going to see your Tweet. You may just accomplish something with a company.
- Explore new people. You come in contact with people you would have otherwise never met. You will open your mind to new ideas and ways of thinking.
- Alleviating boredom There is always something new and entertaining on Twitter to read, and links to click. You can discover websites and things you may not have ever thought of before!
If you’re not on Twitter… what are you waiting for?

I just don’t see any use in twitter, personally. I’d be following other peoples lives as if I don’t have my own, and no one would follow me because I’m not popular. :(

I love twitter for all the reasons you mentioned and more. We are traveling the world as a family & have been since 2006, so it is a great tool for our mobile lifestyle.
I have just started using twitpics and find it is a great & quick way to connect with others around the world.
The speed is really the best thing about twitter and the people on it!

I guess I’m kind of “exploring new people” but mostly I’ve been “exploring the new web app”. I’ve only been twittering for a few weeks and my immediate world friends are all so frumpy they barely understand email. It looks like the best use for it for me may be in keeping up with interesting web news thanks to links and recommendations from star Twitterers like you.
I decided I didn’t want to use it as a soapbox for ranting or sharing the mundane details of my life (not that anything’s wrong with that, @mollywood).
I mostly mention new things I’m doing on the web or media-related experiences. As an experiment I just started a Twitter novel. I’ll try to add an entry each day.

Twitter is a great tool for “power users” like you but for mortals like me, my voice or complaint, etc will not reach many people. Afterall, how many of us have thousands of followers? or am I missing something.

I use Twitter as a place to pop off every so often. I jokingly say that I am channeling Hunter S Thompson the Gonzo journalist. So i will occasionally accuse gore or hillary with outrageous actions, I think the latest was that they are responsible for all the cattle mutilations in the west. No one usually comments so I feel I am not upsetting anyone, and no one has blocked me that i am aware of. You recently asked why all these people are following you because no one knows who you are. I originally followed you because of the name. I thought I did know ou but it turned out to be an annoying car dealership commercial in the Philadelphia area ;). I follow you now because you have interesting and thought provoking comments and information.

I agree with wade watson.
I think twitter is best used for as a way to communicate with the world about “news stuff”. By providing links about what one speaks about is very helpful to get your point across, wether the link sends you to a news article or a video.
I personally hate it when people just talk about their lifes and rants or have a 1 on 1 convo with another person that lasts forever! Use a messenger or something else for that people, but whatever everyone can use it the way they want to. I can’t say I have not done it once or twice, except for the 1on1 convo.
Twitter is best to provide information about anything and everything! Also good for meeting new and interesting people in my opinion.

has become part of my daily routine here at bwana.world, and I’ve found that while there are many interesting people on it, I don’t want to know everything about them. There are plenty of people who love to use Twitterto follow everyone that follows them. While I understand some of their reasoning, I don’t agree with taking in all that personal data from others as it is my belief that it can affect you. As with most technologies I use on the web, there must be some sort of filter or sanity. It

I’d like to join Twitter, but I don’t know whether to use my online name or my real name. There are some people I don’t want in my life who are, how can I say, persistent.
