A caller asked “I was wondering if you knew of any Windows-based clients that would allow multi-user video conferencing”. I know I saw something the other day that was browser-based. Let’s turn to the chat room for suggestions, as well.
One site that may be able to help is ooVoo It’s in Beta still, so it may be free still. They are also working on coming out with a Mac version, as well. ooVoo is the next evolution in online communication — a remarkably easy way to have a face-to-face video conversation with friends, family or colleagues, no matter where they are in the world. ooVoo is remarkably easy to use: easy to download, easy to install, and best of all: it’s FREE!
ooVoo allows you to call users for free, send a video message, or start a video conference with up to six people! It’s the next evolution in online communication, allowing for
richer connections, more expressive communications - all in real time and with amazing, high-quality video. You can:
- Talk one-on-one or with up to six people at a time.
- Smooth video displayed in 3D with clear sound.
- No one answering your call? Leave a voice, video or text message.
- Send files and text messages during the video conversation.
- Adjust/Mute microphone, speakers or camera.
- Choose your ringtone.
- View call history (missed calls, incoming calls, etc.).
This definitely seems like it may be the best solution, and it’s completely free!

Oh yes, ooVoo is definitely still free! And we’ve come out with a new version: ooVoo 1.5. Now you can record your conversations and post them to your blog if you want. We’re also going to be offering free phone calls in the US and Canada, so now is a good a time as any to try it out. I don’t know if any of your readers need the Mac version but they can get it before it appears on ooVoo.com here: oovoomac.smnr.us.
ooVoo is also doing a cool event between the 10th and the 21st of February where you’ll have the opportunity to chat live with bloggers. There is more info about that here on our social media news release page: http://myoovooday.smnr.us/.

I just wanted to post a follow up on this software. After using it several times with other people for the video conferencing, I have found that it works great, and it has replaced our Skype setup that we were using. This is a great piece of software that even runs great in Vista 64bit. Thanks for this and I’ll see ya around.

oVoo Has a Sick Sense of Humour (Funny YouTube video example of how it works but they added the special effects)Kolabora New Radar: VideoconferencingUPDATE: One more related item I meant to add in the earlier post…Free Multi User Video Conferencing for Windows or Mac (Chris Pirillo)ADDITIONAL UPDATE : Correction: John Wall commented, “Scott Monty from Crayon invited me to the event, but I do not represent them nor have they paid me. I participated solely to meet some new people.”

There is no Mac version available on the ooVoo website, and the link to the beta files ultimately returns a “file not found” message.
Too bad as it looked as though it would have been an answer tomy needs.

The biggest advantage of web conferencing is that you can easily send text, files, and visual graphics within seconds to make the purpose of the video conferencing more fruitful.
