- Make sure you have a measurable goal and track it. I personally use Joe’s Goals to track my posting goals. It is a simple web based goal tracker. I really like that I can set it up to send me an email reminder if I haven’t updated my goal in the past two days. It is also nice in that you can post your goal graph on a web page. I use iGoogle and have the widget on there to remind me as well. The more reminders for your goal the better. Joe’s goals is also nice in that it tracks your chain of consecutive days.
- Use some sort of software that will let you post in the future for timed release of your photo. This is the best feature of WordPress ever! I tend to try and batch up my posting to save time. This also works great for back posting missing days. If you’re not super hung up on really posting every day and faking it this works too.
- Reward yourself. Come up with something that if you complete your 365 posts you will give yourself. In my case, I am planning on producing a book (That will be another post). I am looking at using Blurb to do the publishing. It doesn’t matter what your reward is. Some ideas are a new lens for your camera, a new flash, or really anything for enhancing your photography.
- Get a solid work flow. I personally use UFRaw for RAW conversion of my Nikon D50 RAW files and GIMP for image manipulation. I do have Photoshop but find that I’m using GIMP 95% of the time. It doesn’t matter what you use, just find something that works for you.
- Join Flickr, PhotoBucket, or some other social photography site to get feedback on your photography. This will help motivate you to keep shooting. Look for a local group that you may be able to go out on photo walking expeditions with.

Those are definitely some some great tips. As a blogger i find it hard to make my blogs interesting. Adding a Flickr feed would make it look a lot more professional, thats a great idea. I also like the tidbit on setting goals for blogging. I have used set goals before, but not for blogging. I think i will give that a shot, as setting goals, sets one up for success. In any case, this was a great video, and I hope it can help out other people like me. Thanks a lot.

As someone said in the chat - a photo blog with videos would be an interesting thing.
Thats what im doing now, thou i even put a step ahead to that. I reference practically everything into my blog. Plain text sits next to a video or a photo. Where all of the components of one particular post, are referenced from photos videos or inspiration that i find in the post period. My reference start from music or sound ( like me eating, or walking even ), video that i make ( few minutes from a party for eg. ), or that is relevant to my post ( like something that i have read on the internet ). I even download utube movies or other streamed movies and put a part or whole into the blog.
THOU - i have to say, gathering the references and translating it to two languages ( my native and English ), is such a hassle that i have made a little of the web page structure.
I dont call my blog a BLOG - its a binary reflection of my life. And i curse God for giving us only 24h a day. Would much appreciate if i could add an extra day a week to that project.
Tips could be usefull. Thou In my case, I could use a software that could combine all that media into one single media of some sort. I imagine that perfect software of mine, as a static page that parts could be activated by the user, and some areas or elements could interact with him. Flash, for now, seems the best solution, or adobe PDF, but PDF’s are somehow not what im looking for.

how about…get out there and shoot and post what you love…the fun thing about photoblogs is getting comments so to be sucessful you have to get out there and comment on other photoblogs…be part of the photoblog community….that makes it all worthwhile.

Great tips, I’ve always thought of doing a photo blog but never really took the time to do it.

Through twitter and aChris Pirillo broadcastI’ve “discovered” Blurb and Joe’s Goals. This was after his clip mentioning them in relation to rewarding yourself after attaining some goals. The referral was to using Joe’s goals as a tool to survey ongoing goals and to Blurb as a reward.

reason, in my opinion, is that accountability and consistency with photographing everyday will only make you a better photographer. It’s absolutely true. So if your ready to start a photoblog, and the time is now, you can read a simple guide onHow to do a Successful Photoblogby Chris Perillo. Anne Helmond wrote an entire article series about using WordPress and Flickr to create simple photoblog. That’s actually how I started my first one way back when and it’s super easy to do.
