Tom Schmitz brings twenty years professional online experience dating back to 1987 when he was an Assistant Systems Operator for GEnie, a predecessor of AOL, and served as editor of GEnie Lamp, a periodical for Apple II computer users. As the Marketing Director of Sotheby’s International Realty’s Honolulu office Thomas helped pioneer the use of the Internet as a marketing tool to sell high-end real estate internationally. Thomas has also served as a communications and development director for several nonprofits where he repeatedly demonstrated how web sites could be used as an integral campaign tool.
A skilled, multi-talented communicator, Tom brings expertise in designing and managing marketing campaigns, designing web sites and optimizing them for high search engine rankings, designing databases and programming web site applications plus copy writing and graphic design. He has organized technology use and marketing conferences and is the host of Seattle’s Search Marketing Coffee.

I used to be a member of GEine, I was among the first. They gave us a two inch thick white users manual.
What was exciting was that we were the first ones doing it, we were computer explorers on the level of Christopher Columbus. We discovered people who actually lived outside Oklahoma.
I remember chatting with someone in California who asked me if I wanted to know how to make free long distance calls.
