There are a few Mac fanatics who aren’t very impressed with what’s coming in Leopard – much like Windows fanatics (and former Windows fanatics) weren’t impressed with Vista. Each camp argues that these OS revisions don’t go far enough – the argument is universal.

Getting 32-bit Windows to recognize anything beyond 2GB of installed RAM is a seemingly futile effort. Even if your hardware supports the possibility, the software may hold you back – and performance gains are questionable:

Adrian Hensler scribbled:
Just looking at your postings regarding VPN and Hamachi. Hamachi is pretty neat but if it has spotty support for the Mac why not try SSH (secure shell)? I know there are Mac clients like putty ( putty.darwinports.com/download/ ). SSH is great for tunneling data through. You can pipe your email, Web browsing, and IM and whatever else through SSH. It’s very flexible and once you’ve played with SSH (either the command line version or a GUI like putty, it’s easy to see many uses for it).
http://live.pirillo.com/ – The 17″ MacBook Pro sponsored by Blue Sky Factory for Gnomedex came with (2) 1GB sticks of RAM installed. I’ve decided to replace those with (2) 2GB sticks.

http://live.pirillo.com/ – Yes, GreekHomer, it is safe to delete your Windows Prefetch files. However, there is just no need to. Doing so can actually slow down your next startup, instead of speeding it up as you’re hoping.
http://live.pirillo.com/ – A community member at large emailed today, asking if there is a way to create a second recycle bin in Windows. The user is hoping to have two entirely separate recycle bins, for two separate drives.

“wirelesspacket” (quickly becoming one of my favorite chat regulars) sent this suggestion on virtual private networks for individuals.
I was reading your post about Tor or VPN.. Have you ever tried Hamachi? (hamachi.cc) Hamachi is an alternative to VPN. It was highly recommended by Steve Gibson in his Security Now podcast episode 18. Read more on Virtual Private Sushi!?…
Gleamd.com is a Social Networking site, yes. But it’s definitely different from the others. For instance, did you know you don’t have to sign up for an account? You don’t even have to give information about yourself! You can submit someone else who you find to be interesting.
Ahhh, interesting! There’s the key word. The idea of Gleamd is to spotlight interesting people who are doing interesting things on the Internet. You could also potentially use it to see if a group of strangers find you interesting. Gleamd isn’t about promoting yourself… it’s about promoting others. Now there’s a novel idea.

http://live.pirillo.com/ – I bet you’ve seen those emails. “Join Plaxo today! It’s free!” or even from your friends “Join me at Plaxo!”. Yeah. I used to delete those, and never even checked it out. Low and behold once I did try it tonight… I was seriously impressed. Excellent work, Plaxo!
http://live.pirillo.com/ – Yes, you can transfer your files from XP to Mac OS X… or back. While they are two completely separate and different Operating Systems, it’s not as difficult as you would think to share your files between them.
