Keep my data alive and kicking is a difficult task: CDs need to be cleaned, scratched need to be eliminated, and data must be backed up (otherwise there’s going to be a huge fight about why we’re missing gigabytes of photos and videos). While CDs and DVDs are good for short-term storage, they have their fair share of problems: top-foil damage, bad scratches, dirty, oil, and bit-rot can make them almost useless.
So, instead of relying on just digital media to backup my data, I also use software, and even recommend some hardware for backing up your personal data.

I was looking into your post on BackupPC and I decided to take a look at the software. Unfortunately when I followed the links to the SF download page I only found a tarball and html guide. Is there a exe for Windows? Do I have to use cygwin or something else to port this to windows? I’m not a nixguru so I’d love any info.
I enjoy the blog, thanks
