Dear Chris,

What’s funny to me is that usually when people write nasty hate letters, they misspell a couple of words, making themselves look ignorant and retarded. (”Gleam” ? Isn’t that the brand name of a toothpaste ? And I saw the correctly-spelled version in one of your articles, so he obviously wasn’t reading too closely.)

To balance out the scales, I thought I would write and tell you that i just read your “50 Weight Loss Tips” article and loved it. You’re not only cheeky, but dead-on right. Thanks. And congratulations. :)

We all have em in some way, but they are still crappy!

I think the current sucess of live.pirillo.com is ode to how wrong this Troll of yours is!

Pure jealousy, nothing more, nothing less. People who write this stuff are not only sad, the envious as well.

Chris, perhaps you should share **** Person’s comment with the Feds. I understand they’re watching folks like this very closely. Bitterness turned to paranoia, on the fringe of society, jealous. It would be one thing if TP revealed his/her identity to you so there could be a real conversation. But you see, TP doesn’t want that. TP just wants to hurt.

Delete that comment from the person who says you are an ******* and move on with your life. Do not give him his fifteen minutes of fame.

I have appreciated your Lockergnome for many years and continue to do so. You have made a great niche for yourself on this planet and that small minded cave dweller should keep his hostility bottled up inside him or her until he or she explodes. Keep up the good and classy work.

People like that are angry at their own failures and are jealous of others’ successes. Their unhealthy psychological state is clear to everybody but themselves.

This guy is on the first step of becoming another Cho. I hope he comes to his senses.

To put it so even this person can understand it, He/She is calling you all the things He/She thinks of Him/Herself. This person is to be pitied for suffering with such low self esteem. It is truly a sorrowful situation …

Been called worse. Back in the 1990s when I was publishing an online humor column. I wrote something political. I usually attacked both parties equally, but this time I just went after Pat Buchannan, rather than a party. Apparently someone took great offense and went off (I think they were a little off before I provoked them, but that’s beside the point).

If you put yourself out there, you’re going to find people on the net who won’t like what you say and use the anonymity of the net to harangue you in ways they’d never have the guts to do to your face.

Just do what I did. Look at your subscriber/web stats. For each idiot like this, you can point to thousands of people who keep coming back. Those are the people you’re doing this for, not that shmuck.

Chris, for what it’s worth, I found your website a few weeks ago, and enjoy visiting your website daily to see what you’ve done. I was a big fan of TechTV many years ago, especially the Screensavers and Call for Help. I still visit the websites of some of the other hosts, just to keep up with what’s their doing. Call me a dweeb.

Some people are just ignorant, or jealous of other people’s success, so don’t even give this guys email a second thought.

I get SO much hate mail about OpenDomain.Org it is ridiculous. I know I made some mistakes a few years ago with a very large profile domain, but I apologized and we worked everything out. However, the blogging community still accuses of some ’scam’. I bought Drupal.Com from a squatter and gave it to Dries for FREE and got crucified. I acquired OpenAjax.Org for great personal expense and donated it to the Open Ajax Alliance, but they would not help me claim for the IRS.
If it helps, I always start my day with my reader and your blog is on top of the list (next to Scoble)

Now that was cruel! I think some people just seem to get off on writing letters like that, sort of like people who write “spleen” columns.

Hi Chris, I agree with you that he’s actually quite poetic. It’s not that easy to spew out such vile! I think he is just jealous because you are a kind, intelligent, good looking person sharing your vast knowledge with the world and being recognised for it. I think you are cute, eloquent and admirable. Wish there were more people out there like you who’s willing to help out people at the drop of a hat. And you’ve inspired poetry in others! How noble is that!?

Probably someone you failed to call upon during a conference. Don’t get too paranoid but an intelligent check of you and your family’s safety may be in order, maybe have a run through of this with some tech-savvy police type too (is there such a thing?).

People are great, aren’t they? I’ll tell you who is awesome…13 - 15 year old gamers who don’t agree with a video game review you write. Yeah, they love to send vulgar insults. Although the “lobotimized **** deep in psychosis” is waaay beyond their capabilities. Usually, since they know one of us running the site is female, I just get called the B or C words a lot. No where near the imagery provided by your gasbag. I applaud it.

Musta been a slow day at the office, you giving this person a platform to elicit praiseworthy comments from the rest of us. Next time you get a piece of cyberspace rantings and ravings, put them in the electronic garbage bin where they belong.

People like this really need help. I have dealt with people like this recently that seem to have such a problem with you just because of the position you are in. Just delete it and move on.
