Free Xbox 360 Consoles and Podcasting

During the live Chris Pirillo Show on March 09, 2006, five Xbox 360 consoles will be delivered to the studio door. Generous guy that Chris is, he’s giving most of the consoles away. Tune in to find out how one of them could be yours. You can increase the odds of making one of the Xbox 360 consoles your own and put $5 in your pocket simply by signing up for TextPayMe. Also joining the show Thursday evening is Allan Hunkin of Podcast.biz, a podcasting consulting firm and founder of the Podcasts.com podcasting directory. We’re taking live calls as always, so join the conversation at 888.PIRILLO or by using Google Talk.

Joshua Stylman and Peter Hershberg of Reprise Media on Contextual Advertising

Contextual Advertising is more complicated than getting a Google Adwords account and opening up the balance on your credit card. At the end of the day, you need some kind of return on investment. At SES New York, Chris talked with Peter Hershberg and Joshua Stylman of Reprise Media about their roles in the highly competitive search marketing space. Peter Hershberg spoke on a panel discussing contextual advertising and the various ad programs allowing advertisers to move search ads into a contextual environment. Joshua Stylman was part of a panel of media buyers discussing many of the challenges faced in dealing with search engine advertising; including things like click fraud and making sure advertising campaigns are successful. The interview is a solid inside perspective on making contextual advertising campaigns work.

The Hacker's Diet

After having lunched launched a discussion list for weight losers Fatblasters, I learned about The Hacker's Diet. Truly geeky reading from the founder of Autodesk:

Through all the years of struggling with my weight, the fad diets, the tedious and depressing history most fat people share, I had never, even once, approached controlling my weight the way I'd work on any other problem: a malfunctioning circuit, a buggy program, an ineffective department in my company. As an engineer, I was trained to solve problems. As a software developer, I designed tools to help others solve their problems. As a businessman I survived and succeeded by managing problems. And yet, all that time, I hadn't looked at my own health as something to be investigated, managed, and eventually solved in the same way. I decided to do just that.

This is one battle I must lose in order to win.

Bloggers: Join the FatBlasters Discussion List

In writing tonight's report (wherein I share my personal choice for diet software), I decided to create a discussion list in the spirit of community support. How many bloggers out there could stand to shed a few pounds? It's easier to lose weight when you're doing it with others, right? So, here's the general invite for all you overweight bloggers who are (a) looking to lose weight, (b) looking to give and receive advice, and (c) looking to lean on others through your journey. I welcome any one of you to Fatblasters. Let's do it together? Here's one meme I really hope catches on. There are no rules other than being honest, kind, and helpful.
My personal goals are simple: 145 by Gnomedex 6.0; less than 145 by my wedding date on 11/11/2006.

Comic Viewer

Ah, I think I've found the world's best comic viewer – although it's still in very rough beta form, it's the most usable. Takes forever to load, but… just give it a shot (free, cross-platform).
