Beat Addiction with Addiction

Without naming any names from the Fatblasters list, another computer addict is lamenting how his wife can eat a meal slowly and he (like me) cannot. Here's how I've been using my computer addiction to defeat my food addiction. Yes, the computer can actually *HELP* you eat less! Your significant other might not like the idea, but I'd strongly suggest taking the dinner/lunch plate into your computer room, setting it beside you, taking a bite or two, then working for a while (which you *WILL* do for several minutes before realizing you've got a plate of food sitting next to you). Take one bite of food every time, and when you've cleared half the plate, you'll probably be full – and the food will be room temperature. It's a good trick that's worked well for me. No need for portion control, necessarily.

Toothpaste Can Help You Lose Weight

Or so says Lee Thomas, a network admin: “Wife and I are both 57, and over years have tried many things to lose weight, with what success we had always being temporary. I kind of fell into something last year, though, that seems to be working. And don't call it a diet, cause I don't think that's what we are doing. Went to dentist for checkup and got reamed by the hygenist for not taking better care of my teeth. Since I have poor memory skills, I decided to form a new habit, that of brushing immediately after every meal. Which led to not eating between meals or after supper. Know what? I started losing weight. I decided to add to that by controlling portion sizes (cutting back, just a little) and trying to walk 3 or 4 days a week on my lunch hour, for 20 minutes. Both wife and I have lost 35 pounds doing this. We still eat Pizza when we want it, have a beer, I eat biscuits and gravy for an occasiional meal (I AM from Alabama), etc. Point is, we aren't counting carbs or calories, we eat anything we want, just a little less, and I have a desert or a drink only once or twice a week. So, don't call it a diet, per se, but as a relatively painless weightloss program, it is working great, at least for us. Again, YMMV.”

Green Tea Reviews and Recommendations

I needed to know if green tea would help me on my Fatblasting quest. Turns out, green tea is great (according to the American Society for Clinical Nutrition). Color me impressed. I still believe green tea lacks flavor, but I also know that I haven't tried 99% of the green teas out there. I need recommendations – and I've already ordered about four green tea packages from Peet's (duh). Price is no object when it comes to this kind of beverage. Quality is paramount! If green tea is going to become my daily staple, I want it to be good. None of this “tea in a pill” crap. Quite frankly, I'm about done with tea bags as well. Any other green tea drinkers out there? I raise my cup to you.
