Tentative Gnomedex 2007 Dates

What about August 9th through the 11th (2007) for Gnomedex 7.0? I’m sure there are going to be scheduling conflicts, but consider this your “warning shot.” I realize this may concide with some family vacations, but you realize that Seattle is an amazing destination for kids of all ages? Okay, so… we’re thinking about setting the date for the next Gnomedex for that weekend (evening kick-off event on Thursday the 9th, and the conference on both Friday and Saturday). We’ll be doing it at Bell Harbor again, so… start making plans, and prepare to snap your passes quickly. Group discounts will be available this year.

Looking for an Assistant in Seattle

Lockergnome (and Gnomedex, vicariously) is looking for an intern / assistant to help us with various and sundry tasks related to the operation of our activities. We’re looking for qualified individuals immediately, and only Seattle-area “locals” need apply.

Gnomedex is not Dead

I’m not sure who started the rumor, but Gnomedex isn’t dead. At least, not to my knowledge? If it’s dead, nobody bothered to tell me. We’ve had quite a bit of upheaval lately, but throwing Gnomedex out is not one of the things that’s happened. Quite the opposite in fact! We haven’t done any updates on the Gnomedex Web site largely because there hasn’t been much news to share.

Friends Forever

The Scobles

I’ve known Robert Scoble for years – long before blogging was blogging, and long before he was working at Microsoft. I was lucky enough to be present at his nuptuals a few years back, too. He embodies the true geek spirit, and anybody who says otherwise simply does not know Robert like I’ve known him. Maryam is, without argument, his soul mate – and I’m so happy that they’ve found one another. For this reason, I’m equally as thrilled to have Maryam as Ponzi’s matron of honor.

Track YouTube Stats

Most YouTube emails are insipid (not all of them, mind you). I just received this YouTube message from a fellow user a few minutes ago:

I am frequent YouTube watcher and a student at UC Berkeley. As part of a project for one of my classes, I have been working on a new product idea for YouTube film makers/posters like you. The product tracks the trends in your movie viewership over time – breaking your viewership down by day, week, and month.

DHL: Disasterously Haphazard Liars?

When it absolutely, positively might not have to be there anytime soon, which package delivery company do you not rely on? Let me rephrase that for the sake of sounding slightly less confusing. Which package delivery company sucks the least?

Our Carribean Honeymoon

I’m not sure I can write about Ponzi anymore, because there’s a slight chance she might misinterpret my intentions or any ensuing comments of yours. However, I’m still free to talk about my own life! At least, for now? I’m happy to report that I officially ordered our honeymoon this afternoon. We’re going to be spending New Year’s in the Carribean, on a Regent (Radisson) cruise ship, the Seven Seas Voyager:

Scobleizing

Ponzi and I flew down to SF for the weekend to hang with the Scobles – Robert and Maryam. We just went out for sushi in Half Moon Bay (although I contend that Seattle sushi is infinitely better than Bay Area sushi). Right now, we’re enjoying Maryam’s coffee and sitting around the living room – each on our respective laptops. We’re not saying a single word to one another, although every other minute someone will pipe up with “Hey, so-and-so is doing this.” I’m peeking over Robert’s keyboard and watching him populate his linkblog. So, I guess this kind of silent friendship activity is called scobleizing? Ponzi just sent me an IM a few seconds ago. This is… quite… an exciting Friday night.

XM Holiday Music Channels

Since purchasing the Acura RL, I’ve become an XM subscriber. Having satellite radio at my mobile fingertips has proven to be a wonderful luxury! For the most part, I remain tuned into the comedy channels (namely, XM Channel 150). The holidays are coming, and XM has responded with a set of Holiday music channels:

Mobile Stocking Stuffers

Every year, I struggle to find great stocking stuffers for Ponzi. My fiancee is difficult to shop for, despite what she claims. It’s frustrating, but every year I manage to pull it off without showering her in chocolate (which never gets consumed, anyway). I’ve tried little books, but they remain unread. I’ve tried arts and crafts, but they never get assembled. Geeks are so much easier to shop for!

Hacking Democracy

I can’t remember why the TV tuner was dialed into HBO the other night, but we happened to catch an airing of Hacking Democracy. I’ve been so busy lately, that I’ve hardly had time for entertainment. This film wasn’t entertaining half as much as it was informative, however.

Refrigerator Shopping

Ponzi doesn’t know what to get. She’s going back and forth on a handful of brands, but that hasn’t brought us any closer to a purchasing decision. Here’s what she tells me:

Auto Transport Options

When moving from LA to Seattle, Ponzi and I drove the PCH with Wicket and Pixie in the back seat of my Acura (her, driving alone in the BMW Z4). We could have flown, but transporting cars isn’t exactly cheap over such a great distance.
