I love Woz (he did a wonderful keynote at Gnomedex 4.0 a couple of years ago). He's no longer directly involved with Apple, but Steve Jobs is - in a big way. I just want you to read this tiny piece of history and tell me if one of Apple's impending moves is just a little more than ironic:
Wozniak learned about the Blue Box through an October 1971 article in Esquire written by Ron Rosenbaum that led to an introduction to the leading “phone phreak” interviewed in the article, John Draper (a.k.a. Cap'n Crunch). The Blue Box is a device with which one could (mis)use the telephone system by emulating signaling tones used by analog phone switches of the day (and the basic tool for phone phreaking). Unfazed by the trouble that John and others in the article faced, Wozniak built and Jobs sold Blue Boxes for $150 apiece, splitting the profits.
Now, read how Apple May Be Going After OS X Hacker. Shame on you, Apple - Shame on you, Steve Jobs. Don't you remember how you got *YOUR* start?!

Agreed — not the same at all.
The Blue Box was an “accidental” find, while hacking OSX was intentional.
Blue Boxes were not made widely available (they were kept on the downlow, somehwat), while Maxxuss has obviously tried to make his efforts as well known as possible.
(Although hiring him is probably a good idea).

additionally, osx86project was merely speculating which as it turns out was not even true as he was merely setting up his own blog site on his own domain (how wise that is i have no idea as the whois info shows contact info in the US).
