Peet's vs. Any Other Coffee

Years ago, when I was still addicted to Peet's coffee, several folks told me that I had to try Tim Hortons. Okay! No problem. I just never got around to it before I dropped coffee from my daliy routine. I lifted my caffeine ban a week before Gnomedex to sip from a single, small cup of Peet's coffee at one of the Larry's Markets in downtown Seattle. It was like I was tasting it for the first time – again. Oh, beauty – you are but two things. Ponzi, and Peet's. I wonder if i could ever mix the two? Anyway, since we're currently staying two blocks from a Tim Hortons shop, my beauty (Ponzi, not Peet's) and I moseyed down there before dinner yesterday evening. Sure enough, they had coffee – and it was horrible. Ya know, like the kind you'd expect from a greasy-spoon diner kinda coffee? That's the coffee we had. If this experience is indicative of the Tim Hortons coffee that came so recommended by my old Canadian friends, then… ouchkabibble. Sorry, gang… the world's best “chain” coffee remains Peet's (with heavy whipping cream, natch). Get thee to a coffery!

I Heart Vancouver

Since we couldn't travel south this week, we opted to go north for the weekend – to Vancouver. I love this city!!! As we were driving in over one of the bridges, Ponzi made the remark that the cityscape looked like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. Vancouver has tons of downtown apartments and condos (it's like the skyscraper capital of the Pacific Northwest). You might remember us raving about Nikko sushi (in Vancouver) a few months ago. We stuffed ourselves silly there again tonight (and the bill was less than the American coastal average). We're back in our Vancouver hotel room now, watching the Vancouver news. Apparently, I know many famous Canadians – as we saw Boris from Bryght talking about the nature of the new 'Net. Ponzi screamed: “IT'S BORIS!” I said: “I know, we're having dinner with him and his Bryght crew tomorrow night at some random Japanese restaurant here in Vancouver.” She said: “I LOVE VANCOUVER.” I agreed.
