Persian Rugs

Persian rugs – what's the big deal? My Chief Decorating Officer came home the other night, thrilled about how much she saved on two very nice Persian rugs. “Yes, but how much did you spend?” This is a question that never seems to get answered. “No, but guess how much I saved?” I'm not interested in hearing how spending more money saves us money, on Persian rugs or anything else. Fine hand craftsmanship notwithstanding, I'm still at a loss as to the value of these floor beauties. We got 'em on sale, apparently? These Persian rugs now cover our hall and pseudo-family room – although, nobody's allowed to walk on them. I get scolded if I even look at the Persian rugs funny, as if my stare was burning a hole in 'em. According to the live-in style expert, these are Persian Bakhtiari rugs. I guess that means my Walmartese rugs are going to get tossed soon… oh wait, they've already gone walkabout. Blimey! Are Persian rugs really worth it?

Podcasting Hacks

It's time to start hacking podcasts! I started with Eric Rice this afternoon. He talks about doo-doo on his “other site.” If you don't believe me, just listen for yourself. That's him podcasting about doing a podcast about podcasts for podcasting on podcasts. You could say that we're doing a podcast, too – but we're not. We're just doing what we always planned on doing (independent of any given platform or alleged platform). Do you have a podcast? Great, so let's talk about podcasting in another podcast. Whee!

Roomba Rumba

Are you a Roomba rogue, too? Greg Hughes sent us a gift certificate to the Sharper Image a few weeks ago. It was a housewarming gesture, so I figured I'd get something for the house instead of something geeky – but wound up getting something geeky for the house: a Roomba. Yes, we're now the proud parents of a Roomba Discovery, which is currently sleeping in its corner cradle. Roomba owners should know its beeps and chrips by heart, but within a minute of removing our Roomba from its cardboard chambers, it was giving our hardwood office floor a good dusting. “Go Roomba, go!” This yet-to-be-named robotic pet is not going to do any industrial-strength sucking around here, although preliminary sweeps have already been somewhat effective.
