My Official Title

For years, I've struggled to define my path. People ask what I “do” for a living, and it's difficult to give them a specific title. Writer? Entrepreneur? Geek? They just don't work, because I've always done things differently. To put a finer point on it, here's what someone just called me: a technical Renaissance man for the 21st century. Hopefully, I can get that to fit on my next business card. Everything is suddenly starting to make more sense; it's amazing what a fresh perspective can provide… and clarity is only the beginning. The foundation is forming, and I'm ready to build. Could you hand me that electric hammer? Thanks.

Chris, as far as i'm concerned you should call yourself an interaction designer since you've been doing this since forever.
there's other reasons aswell but that title looks good on the ol' businesscard aswell :D

The trouble is that our western culture is obsessed with labels and titles…you can thank the Victorians for giving us this obsession in the 19th century.
I think titles get in the way, that people more often then not use them as shields and clubs rather than as totems of responsibility as they were meant. Being in computer support, I like to think of my title as 'one who helps others' rather than the dry title support rep, senior agent, or team lead. My 2 cents.

I would say you're a poineer for a new generation. In all honesty, I have learned more from you on CFH and here and on Gnome than I have in any specialization class in high school and college. I think I should be paying you 20 grand a year. lol XD

Renaissance Man. That's what I set out to be in high school, the man of a thousand talents, jack of all trades master of none. And thus far I've succeeded but then I have a fit because society pushes us to specialize, especially in college. And I question whether CS is where I want to specialize. I guess we'll find out.

Tech Renaissance man? Perhaps. Hoever, a true renaissance man knows not to be greedy. Don't let the horrid fruit of evil get to you, Chris. That's what drove me away from your materials before. Don't charge for things you used to hand out for free.
