13 Port USB Hub!

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

I absolutely love USB. I’ve made no secret of that fact in the past. I run out of USB ports all the time. I have 8 ports on my computer itself, and an additional 7 off the pc. I still don’t have enough! So, receiving this for Christmas was great!

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a serial bus standard to interface devices. USB was designed to allow peripherals to be connected using a single standardized interface socket and to improve plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the computer (hot swapping). Other convenient features include providing power to low-consumption devices without the need for an external power supply and allowing many devices to be used without requiring manufacturer specific, individual device drivers to be installed.

I have tons of thumb drives, have used the USB Snowman, and even the doggie that plugs into a USB port and does “doggie things”. I’m looking for more cool USB devices. What ideas of things I can get do you have? Leave me a follow-up comment, or send an email to me at chris@pirillo.com.

USB 3.0 will be compatible with USB 2.0. Does that mean you will be able to get 3.0 speeds with a 2.0 port?

lmao i found a usb vibrator…what isant powerd bu usb nowerdays

The USB powered Hamster is the latest edition to the USB gadget toy range. This cute little critter will run in his cage as you type. Connect it to your USB, the faster you type, the faster this Hamster runs

Nope, the 3.0 port bandwith speed will be reduced to work as a 2.0 port, and if u plug a 2.0 device into a 3.0 hub it will not take advantage of the speed increase

oh what about the usb bsod, windows 98…lol

I’m gonna look for one of those. It could come in handy

wow, have I been there ;)

I bought a couple of USB memory watches (laks makes them) and they came with this tiny CD-ROM for the 98 drivers (I believe ME had them on board).

No matter how well you followed instruction in the pdf on the CD-ROM, about 1 out of 3 times you the dark thing in or out of the port, yep, BSOD.

See and this was the 98-style BSOD, no information, 2 suggestions (press key or hit Ctrl+Alt+Del) and neither of those did anything.

no, just like 2.0 didnt run in a 1.0 at 2.0 speed, just like agp 8x doewsnt run at 8x in an agp 4x slot. But the hub is 6 years old, Chris is just late as usual I had one of these with a printer, scanner, pda, game pad, steering wheel, flight sim joystick, and a bunch of other **** plugged into it.

vacuums are supposed to suck :-)

I need more usb ports and quick I have, keyboard ,mouse, speakers on USB, wireless dongle on USB, external hard drive and DVD- RAM drive on USB, I concur with you USB is awesome, all I need to do now is find some use for the firewire port on the front off my case.

I got the USB Doomsday Device from ThinkGeek for Christmas. True, it’s only a 4 port USB hub, but having switches to flick and a big red button to push more than makes up for it’s other limitations. My youngest son loves to push the big red button and then run away screaming before the explosion sounds. Nothing says “geek” like a big red button.

I definatly get one of these. Thank you for the review, Chris :o)

I just bought a 7 port hub. It rocks!

I need one of those! My iMac only has five, two of which my usb sharpener doesn’t like!

How about a USB coffee maker… i’m not kidding there is one. Just Google for it

USBs should be required as the only way to hook up everything to your computer, USB keyboards, printers, and speakers

That way you could customize your computer, and make your Personal Computer, just a little more personal.

(I sound like I’m selling USBs now)

My favorite usb gadget is the one that is a heat sensitive coffee mug, found here:

Great video. I think there should be a USB port on every wall right next to the power outlet. USB ports make the world a better place.

wooot! what a cool device. Only thing is.. its odd looking, but that could be a “feature”. hehe. Conversation piece..

13? I dont even have that many USB devices, I just need one that has 2 -4 on it.

Guys check out http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow/0,1206,l=&s=25301&a=192425,00.asp these are some wierd USB stuff

chris u are right ppl are making usless junk chris ur awesome man

I need to find that, it could come in quite handy. I have two 3 port USB hubs connected to my computer now and they’re all filled. Darn useless USB devices

My default Compaq came with 6 USB ports. I only use 2 of them currently though since I have no real use for all the plug and play items.

This is something I’m going to definitely have to get one. I’ve got so many USB Items something like this will help sooooooo much. I only have 4 on my mother board but i have a keyboard, mouse, printer, iPod charger/transfer cable and and more stuff that won’t fit. I have to change cables out when I need to use something that isn’t plugged-in.

If any body is looking for a cool little cooler for a 12oz. can. Here’s the link, http://www.xoxide.com/usb-mini-fridge.html

That’s either gonna run super hot, or malfunction. But in theory, it’s awesome.

my monitor has 4 usb ports, where my printer, mouse and keyboard is plugged. optionally my drawing tablet or thumb drive. my case has 6, where digital cameras and other thumb drives can be plugged. i cant see myself ever needing more than that

good info. keep it up

thx TxNana

Chris, how is it?? i hope it works because i am thinking about getting some usb gadgets, i want to know if it is good.

thats a bit overkill tho dont you think

i would use it but its still to much

my mac has not enough… i needed 2 hubs

Dang, I need one. All I have is 4 USB ports that are all used up. I have to keep switching thing. Thanks for reminding me about that, I never knew their was a thing that extends your usb slots.

Chris, I know in your video you were asking for unique USB devices, but have you ever considered external USB DVD drivers/burners? Since you keep your computer behind your desk, it seems like having an external player/burner would keep you from having to go around your desk just to insert a disc. Of course, depend on how often you use DVD’s.

I agree with you 110% - you can never have enough USB ports.

i think this barbie doll usb drive is cool. now i have a reson to rip her head off.

Since we are the company that introduced it here in the U.S., and marketed it among all the top tech blogs including engadget, chances are you bought it from us instead of from ‘overseas’ as you say. Our manufacturing partner, is as you say, in China. However, we are a California based company.
