I’d say you’re missing macports. While it is probably something best left for more advanced users, I’d say a lot of us fit into that category. With macports you can get a large amount of the open source software available on Linux.

Among all the free apps chris provides here, I find the most useful two being

Esperance DV and Menu Eclipse

Ramdisk through Esperance DV
For me, owning 4G ram on my laptop, I definitely would like to use some portion of that to speed up the lower tier storage system

Menu Eclipse totally rocks.. It just blocks me from staring at that sometime annoying translucent menu bar.. for the sake for looking at it.

I’d also like to recommend NetNewsWire. One of my favorite feed reading clients for the Mac OS X. It used to be a paid software, but now it is free! We like free!

Also, Brent Simmons has said that NNW 4 will have AideRSS support built right into the application.

I only wish there was a way to share my “flagged” (or “starred” in GReader) items to FriendFeed.

Chris, do you know of a way to do this?

Hopefully you haven’t previously mentioned this, but Minuteur is one of my favorite free applications. I am a professional writer, and I use it to time myself and as an alarm clock. It also has stopwatch functionality.

You should add it to your next list.

Chris Pirillo is trying very hard to get some attention, and one way of doing this is by coming up with lists of “interesting / awesome (but largely unknown) apps.” He certainly is succeeding from that point of view. But some of the apps in hislatest listare so out-there that you’ll find them interesting or awesome for only a few minutes before moving on.
